I truly treasure friendships. Life has taught me to embrace every good opportunity to meet new friends, learn from them, laugh and cry with them and grow with them. Yes, there were a few friendships / relationships that did not work out, did not survive the challenging and intimidating pessimistic mentality of some people, did not thrive, ceased to flourish.
For a time I felt sorry for these relationships, the time spent together, the effort exerted to at least sustain the relationship / friendship, the other resources spent to make it work. However, as we grow in age (and hopefully in wisdom), I realized that "all things work together for good.." (Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (ESV). By letting go, I think we should not burn bridges. We never know, we might have to cross that same bridge again. We can opt to just look and take a different one to our destination.
Indeed, letting go may seem hard, sometimes harsh, at first, but could be a liberating life experience. Eventually, letting go could even open better opportunities for us to grow in faith, hope and love.
