IMAGINATION

IMAGINATION by Eugene, 1990

The feeling is so surreal 😭... when you had the extra time to declutter and found something worth keeping and sharing - - Imagination, a poem I penned over 34 years ago in the 1990s, a combination of playful, childlike wishes and an individual's deep yearning of utopian society, where I tried to create playful rhymes and colorful images.

😂 Well, a sample of my teenage brain's output 😁

IMAGINATION

by Eugene, 1990

Birds with moustache
Pigs with horns
Stones with arms and hands
Dogs with three eyes
Cats with snouts
Could sing, as well as dance
You can see them all
Come and try my world

No more hunger
No more thirst
All men are so healthy
No more sorrow
No more pain
Love and peace .. on air
You can feel them all... come and try my world…

All people are equal
No rich and no poor
No crimes and no conflicts
All understand and care
You can have them all .. try your imagination

-----------------

Now, I still carry that same hopeful spirit, though at times I feel disheartened by current events. However, I approach things with a more realistic outlook, focusing on coping strategies that help me stay resilient, steadfast in faith, and not lose heart.

HAIKU (for my Parents)

 HAIKU for my Parents

(Nanay Etang & Daddy Apiong)

August 23, 2024

I

Hands that gave so much,
Endless love without a price,
Now they rest in peace.

II

Longing for their touch,
Echoes of laughter and care,
Life's sweet lessons fade.

III

In each sunset’s glow,
I see their smiles, hear their voice,
Love that never dies.

IV

Life lived to the full,
Yet I mourn the days gone by,
Their wisdom still guides.

V

They gave all to me,
Sacrifices made with joy,
Bright, generous souls

VI

Selfless hearts that shone,
Giving more than they received,
Their love, pure and true.

VII

Unseen sacrifices,
Parents' gifts in silent ways,
Love beyond measure.

VIII

Every lesson shared,
Born of love and endless care,
Gifts that never fade.

IX

Generous hearts beat,
In every hug, every meal,
Selfless love complete.

X

In their final breath,
Gave me all they ever had,
A life full of love.
